Official Blogger

Throughout this semester, I got the chance to experience blogging. I must say I will definitely continue blogging whether it is for personal or business. When I graduate and become a CPA I will like to blog about the experiences I encounter throughout my career to target the new graduates who inspires to become a CPA one day. Almost like a mini view in the life of a CPA blog. I also will like to start a personal blog that will target young girls to inspire them by maybe even giving small advice about life. I officially have drawn into fascination with the blogging world.  I currently read a few blogs such as The Shade Room blogs, Capital Journal blogs, and Roe CPA blogs. Each blog talks about different topics that I am interested in even if it has to educate or entertainment. I will definitely recommend these three blogs to start reading.

The Shade Room is a blog written by three young black women journalist that go by their nicknames Angelica, Debra Oh, and Chinny O to discuss their brutally honest opinions about celebrities. Whether it is a new hair do or a new relationship partner, the shade room definitely keeps you up with that latest celebrity gossip. Great blog if you're interested in the lives of celebrity.

The Capital Journal is a blog (hosted by Wall Street Journal) written by Peter A. Brown who publishes about top daily news in politics. I find it very convenient because he goes in great detail about things that is going on in the world or even upcoming problems that will influence our lives  in the United States.

The Roe CPA blog published by John C. Roe is a blog in which he shares different news in the business world. I enjoy reading his blogs because he informs me and keeps me up to date with what is new in the fast pace profession.

Better Scheduling of Classes Software Proposal

Link to picture

For the past few years University of Louisiana at Lafayette has experience a growth in population of enrolled students. In result, there has been crowded rooms and sometimes a waiting time just to be able to register in the classes needed. According to my group research majority of people are dissatisfied with the UL scheduling of classes. During this group project my group concluded two major problems that has caused this satisfaction and may be the key to a more sufficient scheduling of classes software.

Allowing Graduate students to teach. This proposal will help tremendously because there aren't enough teachers for students who are about to graduate. A lot of times these classes run out of seats just before I could schedule which pushes back my graduation date and interfere with other issues. So allowing graduate students to teach 300-400 level classes will be a phenomenal help not only to the student but for the school as an whole.

Allowing student of College of Engineering to design program. This second proposal helps with designing the program overall to eliminate all the glitches and flaws students see with it and who else is better to do it than our very own students. This will also be an opportunity for our students to actually get a hands on experience to excel in their field of work.

Overall, both proposals will save money so the cost of this project will be very slim to known.

Five Facts You Should Research Before Going into an Interview

I know there are thousands of people like myself that is not good at being interviewed by an intimidating manager. However, being prepared for the interview can soothe the nervousness a ton. What I mean by being prepared is being expected to get hit with the unexpected questions that may occur during the interview. Such as what is the manager of our CEO? Or, Do you know the company's mission? The business world is maturing and businesses not only want what you can offer, but they're also interested in your genuine interest in their company. By showing that interest is researching and learn these five important facts about a company before you go into an interview. Which are the CEO name or names, company's mission statement, what makes the company special, history of company, and companies policies and procedures.

Tips:

  • You can find majority of these important facts on the companies webpage under "about company" section.
  • Be very attentive during your interview.
  • If you're not sure the exact answer do not guess.

Introduction to Blogger

Photography by Drummerboy Productions.
Hello! My name is Gia Young, I am currently a senior at Louisiana State University at Lafayette majoring in Accounting. Go Ragin Cajuns! I'm just an ambitious girl who was raised by a single parent and want a much better life. Which explains my title Work, Dream, and Believe I feel like with those three things you cannot go wrong. Working for what you want will bring results, but without the dream you will work for nothing. Dreaming is a huge component because you have something to work for and dedicate to making it happen. But working and dreaming will not do anything if you don't believe in yourself. Enough about me but I'm obviously a beginner with the blogging world however my beautiful clever English 365 teacher felt that this will be a great SEMESTER long project for her students. However, I did take Technical Writing to learn more about what businesses expect in resumes' and how they will like them presented. I think its a great idea she is getting us ready for the future by doing computer based work.

What I Expect from Technical Writing Course?

"Technical writing is a course in technical communication with an emphasis on practical documents. Recommended for students in technical majors and for students considering careers in technical/Professional writing." (UL Course Descriptions) I'm one of the many students here at UL who majors in a career in which this course would be very beneficial to us in the near future. I plan to learn and excel in making professional documents and becoming efficient online programs such as google drive. I believe this class will get me to the next level for my career goals. By the end of this course I'm excited to enter my career and be able to apply the things I learned in Technical Writing in my future CPA firm!
